Interpretive Hawaiian dance with a focus on the post-monarchy era.

In this class we learn modern style hula which were composed after the introduction of modern instruments. We will study how hula changed, and what makes a hula remain hula through the changes. Students also will learn about different types of modern hula, and the traditions surrounding them. This papa includes related cultural arts which support hula ʻauana.
